There were no injuries from the fire, which was extinguished within about 45 minutes, the company said. The cause of the fire was still under investigation and there was no estimate on when operations will return to normal.

Inmate kills herself: A Pierce County Jail inmate hanged herself with a bedsheet a day after she was booked for investigation of drug and domestic violence charges, sheriff’s deputies say. Another inmate discovered Tami Dee Burnett, 40, of Tacoma unconscious in her cell about 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, sheriff’s Detective Troyer said. Guards performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until fire crews arrived and took Burnett to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead about an hour later, Troyer said.

Arson suspected in church fire: Vancouver’s third-oldest church has been gutted by fire, and authorities sought to question a man who was treated for burns. The old Tudor revival-style Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, built in 1909 with a tall stone tower in an area with several other historic churches and buildings, was reduced to a blackened shell after firefighters from four precincts battled the flames early Tuesday. Authorities said the fire apparently started sometime before 5 a.m. in the basement of the church. "At this point we’re saying the fire is suspicious, that it doesn’t appear to be an accident," Deputy Fire Chief Bob Smith said. The nearest fire station was two blocks away, but flames had broken through the roof by the time the first crews arrived. The church was operated until 1996 as part of the Baptist General Conference of Canada. It was sold about six years ago to Praise International, a Pentecostal-based faith that operated it as an interdenominational church.
