SNOHOMISH — Two men have been arrested in connection with the killing of one woman and the assault of another Sunday afternoon near Echo Lake.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Everett Police Department, were able to take the men into custody without incident about 7 p.m. in the 1500 block of 74th Street SE in Everett, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Lt. Monte Beaton.
Deputies were first called to the 12000 block of 212 Street SE about 3 p.m. When they arrived, they found one woman who was dead and another injured, he said.
The slain woman was described as elderly. The injured woman identified her attacker.
One of the suspects is believed to have been at the site doing contract construction work, the sheriff’s office said.
The injured woman was transported to an Everett hospital. Her condition was not immediately available.
The sheriff’s office major crimes unit converged on the scene and an investigation was underway. Identification of the woman who died, as well as the cause and manner of her death, will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.
