NORTH BEND — The King County Sheriff’s Office says a 58-year-old Mill Creek man fell to his death while hiking in Twin Falls State Park near North Bend.
Witnesses reported seeing the man walk past a “trail closed” sign with his dog Sunday afternoon and hearing the dog yelping a short time later. King County sheriff’s Sgt. Cindi West says it appears the man slipped down a steep slope that led to an even more vertical drop-off, and he was found about 100 feet below. He was dead when rescuers reached him.
Crews were able to retrieve the dog from where it was stranded, on a cliff about halfway down the slope. The dog was not hurt.
