MONROE — The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning about a registered sex offender in the 23300 block of N. Lake Cochran Road in the Monroe area.
David J. Cullerton, 39, is not wanted by police, but authorities are concerned about his potential to commit more crimes, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said. State law allows police agencies to notify the public about the presence of certain sex offenders in the community.
Cullerton was convicted of second-degree rape of a child in 1997 in a case involving a 13-year-old neighbor boy. He revictimized the boy three more times and was sentenced to 65 months in prison, Jorgensen said. He spent 4 1/2years of that term in prison. He seeks out child victims through relationships he develops with women, she said.
He refused sex offender treatment in prison. He did complete an extensive chemical dependency program while he was locked up.
Cullerton is white, 5 feet 10 inches, about 172 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Sheriff’s officials will conduct a community meeting to discuss sex offender issues from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Centennial Middle School Commons, 3000 Machias Road in Snohomish.
