ARLINGTON — Police officers and firefighters here are getting together to help one of their own.
Snohomish County sheriff’s Sgt. Scotty Parker, whose beat is north Snohomish County, has a son at Seattle Children’s hospital.
“All these guys are so close,” city spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said. “They would do anything for each other.”
Law enforcement personnel are trying to raise money for Parker and his wife Rebecca, whose 7-year-old son Junuh suffered a brain aneurysm on Nov. 30.
The Parkers, who live just north of the Skagit-Snohomish county line near Lake McMurray, have triplet boys, including Junuh, as well as a 5-year-old son.
Junuh was roughhousing with his brothers. A while later he complained of severe pain and then fell unconscious.
Family friend Holly Alling said Junuh had brain surgery two weeks ago and a portion of the large blood clot was removed. He is receiving speech and physical therapy, she said.
The Parkers have been driving back and forth from the hospital, with the boy’s parents trading off duties at home and at Junuh’s bedside, where he is expected to stay for another month.
The Parkers are a one-vehicle, one-income family, Alling said, and Christmas will be spent in their son’s hospital room.
The Junuh Parker Fund has been set up at Whidbey Island Bank, Banfield said, and donations are needed before Christmas.
