SEATTLE — A Shoreline woman who fatally stabbed her boyfriend and then fled with their two young daughters apologized to his family in court.
The Seattle Times reported that Doreen Starrish, 29, was sentenced on Friday to 14 years in prison for the 2012 killing of Aaron C. Smith, 27. Starrish was convicted last month by a jury of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon and heroin possession.
Starrish tearfully told her family and the victim’s family she was sorry.
The couple had a history of violence and abuse that included a misdemeanor assault charge against Smith and a domestic-violence-protection order barring him from contacting Starrish that was in effect at the time of the slaying.
