A committee of Kamiak High School students and parents are volunteering their time to raise money to purchase new uniforms for the Kamiak Show Band. Students involved include Stuart Pitts, James Myles, Matt Gretencort, Fiona Kwok, Emily Harris and Tim Perisho.
The band has acted as an ambassador of the Mukilteo community at events such as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Ireland, President Clinton’s inauguration, the Festival of Lights in Paris and marching-band contests across the state. The Kamiak Show Band has marched and performed in the same uniforms since the school opened in 1993.
Volunteers are hoping to raise $52,500 to purchase 210 new uniforms. If you’d like to donate, send a check payable to the Kamiak Performing Arts Boosters to P.O. Box 1016, Mukilteo, WA 98275. To get a donation form, go to www.kamiakartsboosters.org. Donations may be tax-deductible.
For donations of $250 or more, a custom-made label will be sewn into a new uniform and dedicated to the donor or a person of the donor’s choice. Each year the donor and the person to whom the uniform is dedicated will receive a personal letter from the newest student to wear the uniform.
