SILVANA — The 2013 Silvana firefighters’ fundraiser breakfast is planned for July 4 at Willow &Jim’s Country Cafe.
The 13th annual event is set from 7 a.m. to noon at the restaurant, 1421 Pioneer Highway.
At least 150 people attended last year, firefighter Shane Farrell said.
Off-duty firefighters will be there to chat with folks and answer any questions they have, he said.
“We come and respond to their calls to us for emergencies. This is our way to do it the opposite way, for us to say, ‘Hey, today, we could use your help,’” he said.
The event celebrates the support from the community in the nearly all-volunteer Snohomish County Fire District 19*, which covers the Silvana area near Arlington, Farrell said.
“It’s a nice time for us to get together, the entire organization, and spend some time doing something other than training or rescue,” he said.
Unless there are emergency calls, fire rigs will be parked outside for people to check out.
The Silvana firefighters association uses funds from the breakfast for expenses such as water rescues, fire debris cleanup and firefighter memorials.
