Marysville residents can attend Saturday’s Silvertips hockey game at a discount offered by the Silvertips to thank the city for supporting local hockey.
Hockey fans from the city will get $5 off tickets for the Comcast Arena’s upper level, and $6 off tickets for the arena’s lower level. The discounted prices are $10 and $14.
“We want to honor those communities who have been supporting us for all these years,” said Kevin Danford, a spokesman for the Silvertips team.
Discount nights for other cities, including Monroe and Snohomish, have already occurred. It’s likely that discount nights will be planned for most of the communities in the region, Danford said.
On Saturday, Marysville City Councilman Jeff Seibert will be called to the ice for a short recognition ceremony in which he will be awarded a plaque, Danford said. When other communities are invited, mayors and other city leaders can expect the same honor, he said.
While cities have been honored in past years, Danford said he and other team officials hope the events will grow into an annual celebration of Silvertips fans.
