WHIDBEY ISLAND – A 9-year-old boy was in critical condition Thursday after he collided with the side of a dump truck while riding his skateboard, police said.
The boy rolled into an intersection at E. Roxlin Drive and Cameron Road, where he hit a passing dump trunk, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said.
The truck was “moving slowly,” but its rear tires rolled over the boy, Leary said.
The boy suffered injuries to his head, hip and legs, as well as internal injuries, Leary said. The boy was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
