SEATTLE — A new ski lodge under construction at the Summit Central resort at Snoqualmie Pass is designed to hold snow, not shed it.
The roof is reinforced to hold 450 pounds per square foot — enough to handle a 7-foot snowpack.
The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce reported architects want the blanket of snow on the roof to act as insulation. An added feature is that snow from the roof won’t fall on unsuspecting people below.
The Summit at Snoqualmie lodge will house ski and snowboard rentals, a cafeteria and bar.
