SPOKANE — A homeless man who was killed in the Dishman Hills area of Spokane has been identified as a 46-year-old former chef, Doug Klages.
KXLY reports he was once a successful chef in Spokane but lost his job and was living as a transient.
Hikers found his body Friday in a shallow cave.
Klages was last seen Tuesday at a mission where he wanted to spend the night, but he was turned away because he was intoxicated.
A spokesman for Union Gospel Mission said Klages was popular because he always pitched in and helped in the kitchen.
