Icy roads Wednesday night led to six accidents in just 38 minutes in north Snohomish County, police said.
"It was a mess," Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said.
Few details were available because deputies were so busy, she said.
The mayhem began at 6:45 p.m. with an accident at 83rd Place NW and Marine Drive in the Marysville area. A man and two children, ages 5 and 6, were in a car that flipped. They appeared uninjured, but they were hit by another vehicle as they crossed the street, she said. They were taken to Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus.
Two other crashes occurred on Marine Drive, two more occurred on Vernon Road, and one happened on Sunnyside Boulevard in Marysville.
"We had every available deputy scrambling," Jorgensen said. "Apparently, down south and east, it doesn’t appear to be so bad."
Snow was reported in Marysville, Everett and south of the city earlier in the day.
