SULTAN — Power is back on and a road is reopened after a landslide Sunday on Old Owen Road.
Rainwater caused debris to slide onto the road, near Reiner Road, just about a mile from U.S. 2.
The landslide was big enough that it required Snohomish County Public Utility District to relocate poles and lines. This delayed work by the county’s public works department until 2 p.m., said Christopher Schwarzen, County Executive Aaron Reardon’s spokesman.
Crews worked until 9 p.m. Sunday and continued cleanup work and re-setting the jersey barriers on Monday morning, he said. Then the road was reopened.
This is not the first time a landslide occurred at the site. There have been about a half-dozen slides this winter. Another big landslide is not expected because the loose material has fallen already, Schwarzen said.
The landslide caused scattered power outages affecting fewer than 1,000 customers, a PUD spokesman said.
