EVERETT — Firefighters extinguished five small separate blazes in the 2400 block of Rockefeller Avenue in Everett early Thursday morning.
Two trash cans beneath the portico of the Everett High School gym were set on fire, Everett fire marshal Rick Robinson said.
A couch, a mattress an
d a recycling bin off the campus also were set on fire.
“It’s all outside near a curb and away from combustible structures,” he said.
The fires were reported shortly before 3 a.m.
Everett police have been asked to investigate, Robinson said.
School is almost out for the summer and firefighters suspect young people might be involved, Robinson said.
“They were intentionally set,” Robinson said. “We want to find out who did this.”
