MONROE – A small plane landed in a field Thursday afternoon after the pilot reported losing power, officials said.
The plane touched down twice before flipping end-over-end, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
The pilot, a Snohomish County man, 48, walked away uninjured, she said.
Emergency crews were called at about 2:40 p.m. to a field near Ben Howard Road between Highway 203 and 260 Avenue SE, Hover said.
The single-engine Cessna 152 had front-end damage as a result of the landing, she said.
The plane is registered to Northway Aviation of Everett, a plane-rental and flight-school business based at Paine Field.
The man had rented the plane, said Mario Vela, a company spokesman. Reached on Thursday, the company did not know what caused the plane to land and declined to provide additional information.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating, Hover said.
Police arrested a man who allegedly broke into a smoke shop Thursday.
An alarm was set off about 3 a.m. at the business, located in the 3500 block of Broadway, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
Officers spotted a man nearby and he reportedly had items from the store, including cigarettes, Goetz said. Police believe the man broke through a neighboring business to enter the smoke shop.
The man, 40, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of burglary.
