SEATTLE — Investigators have determined that a fire at a downtown Seattle building was accidentally started by an electrical problem in a ground-floor restaurant.
Fire Department spokeswoman Dana Vander Houwen says damage is estimated at $250,000.
Two people suffered minor injuries in the fire that started about 4 a.m. today at the nine-story Downtowner Apartment building in Seattle’s International District.
Fire Department spokeswoman Helen Fitzpatrick says one elderly resident with breathing trouble and a firefighter with a knee injury were taken to a hospital.
Firefighters confined the fire to the V Garden seafood restaurant.
Smoke in the upper stories forced many residents to wait in Metro buses while firefighters cleared the air.
