LYNNWOOD – A man arrived from a weekend trip Sunday night to find soot around the front door of his townhouse.
Inside, the man discovered thick smoke from an unreported fire. The fire likely smoldered for days inside the residence in the 20300 block of 33rd Avenue W. Insulation and double-pane windows kept it from getting the oxygen needed to fully ignite, Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said Monday.
The fire started on the first floor in the living room sofa. It was unclear what caused the sofa to smolder. There was heavy smoke damage to the townhouse.
