EVERETT – A smoldering fire inside a wood pile at a lumber yard is creating smoke in the north Everett area this morning.
Firefighters were called early this morning to a fire located at United Wood Product in the 4000 block of Railway Avenue. The business takes in waste wood products, grinds it up and ships it to Kimberly-Clark, where it is burned as fuel. No buildings were damaged.
Firefighters hope to have the fire out by the end of the day. The smoke in the area could last for a day or two, a fire official said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
