EVERETT — For those who enjoyed waking up to some fall rain Friday, better enjoy it while it lasts.
That’s the word from National Weather Service meteorologist Matthew Cullen.
“If you like rain, then today is your day,” Cullen said Friday.
For many, the rain began moving through around 4 a.m. Friday. By 11 a.m., much of the front had moved east of I-5 and the temperature stood at 49 degrees in Everett.
Cullen said the front dropped anywhere from three-tenths to five-tenths of an inch of rain, as of 11 a.m. Rain showers were expected later Friday. A convergence zone forming over Snohomish County could lead to heavier showers and possible thunder later Friday.
A convergence zone is when air flow splits around the Olympic Mountains to the West and then converges over Puget Sound.
Friday’s rain will give way to a promise of sun and warmer temperatures Saturday through Monday, Cullen said.
“The weekend is certainly looking much different than today,” Cullen said Friday.
The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 65 degrees Saturday and warming up to near 70 degrees Sunday and Monday in Everett.
For the rest of next week, the possibility of scattered showers persist throughout with highs projected in the low to mid 60s.
