SNOHOMISH — City Councilman Randy Hamlin announced his resignation plans on Tuesday night, telling fellow council members he intends to leave office by Aug. 4.
Hamlin said increasing work responsibilities and a desire to spend time with his three sons led to the decision.
“I feel that I can no longer dedicate the time and energy that this position deserves,” he wrote in a letter of resignation.
Hamlin, who served two two-year terms, as mayor, was re-elected to a four-year term on the council in November. He plans to stay in office until the first council meeting in August, giving city officials time to find his successor.
The City Council may appoint someone to his seat during a special meeting on Aug. 10, City Manager Larry Bauman said.
