EVERETT — It’s one of those weeks where weather in the Pacific Northwest can’t seem to make up its mind, with hot weather through Tuesday giving way to cooler temperatures and showers by the weekend.
A heat advisory from the National Weather Service remains in effect until 10 p.m. Tuesday for Snohomish County and portions of Western Washington. Forecasters believe Everett will reach 89 degrees Monday and 91 on Tuesday. In Darrington, the high should climb above 95 degrees on both days.
“This can pose a moderate risk of heat-related illnesses,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Johnny Burg. “Be careful outside, and also check up on those who may be susceptible to the heat.”
Snohomish County has an online list of active cooling centers available across the county, along with tips of how to stay cool during the heat wave. The information can be found at https://snohomish-county-public-safety-hub-snoco-gis.hub.arcgis.com/pages/cooling-centers.
Hot weather is expected to break on Wednesday with Everett only expected to reach 76 degrees.
By Friday and Saturday, a deep upper level low is expected to spread precipitation across Western Washington, including up to an inch over the lowlands and even more in higher elevations. By Saturday, the daytime high is expected to reach 68 degrees.
