EVERETT — If you put a spoon under your pillow, wear your PJs inside out and backward and brush your teeth with your non-dominant hand, you might just wake up to snow in the lowlands of Snohomish County on Sunday morning.
Then again, maybe not.
After a long dry spell, a wetter and slightly warmer system is set to hit the area late Thursday through Friday.
On Friday, rain may be accompanied with snow at night, although lows are predicted to only hit 35 degrees.
“As we go into Friday night and into Saturday morning, you know, most of the guidance that we’re seeing still kind of favors rain, but there is a chance of snow to mix in there when it gets colder,” National Weather meteorologist Kayla Mazurkiewicd said. “As we move into Saturday throughout the day, especially Saturday night, we do have some higher probabilities of some snowfall.”
Forecasters say snow is possible in the Everett area after 1 a.m. Sunday with lows around 31 degrees. At least 1 inch is likely, Mazurkiewicd said.
“We’re seeing probabilities around 60 or 70% in Everett,” she said.
Higher elevations are expected to get snow starting Thursday night and continuing through the weekend. Stevens Pass Ski Resort is predicting up to 20 inches of new accumulation on Friday.
