SEATAC — A man wanted on a warrant out of Snohomish County led police on a chase through the airport on Tuesday afternoon.
Police about 1 p.m. received a tip that a man with an arrest warrant from Snohomish County was about to board a plane at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, airport spokesman Perry Cooper said.
The man was standing in line at one of the airline counters when officers approached him. He took off running, made it to the baggage claim area and outside the airport, where he stole a rental van leased by a TV production crew.
The van was parked in the loading zone with the engine running while the driver had gone around to the back, Cooper said. He drove off in the van toward I-5 and struck another vehicle, ripping off its doors.
Police later recovered the van, video equipment intact, at the Southcenter mall area, Cooper said. The man was still on the loose on Tuesday evening.
