SNOHOMISH — A Snohomish-area man in his late 50s was killed Thursday morning when his sport utility vehicle crashed into a power pole outside the Snohomish city limits, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said.
Another driver called 911 about 7 a.m. after spotting the wrecked 2000 Infiniti near the 8800 block of Lowell-Snohomish River Road, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said. The exact time of the crash is unknown. It is believed to have happened shortly before authorities were called.
The driver in the wrecked SUV died at the scene, Hover said. Nobody else was inside.
The accident is under investigation. Speed may have been a factor, Hover said.
The crash knocked out power briefly to residents in the area. The road was closed as utility crews repaired power lines.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office had not released the man’s name as of Thursday afternoon.
