A Snohomish man shot by Bothell police May 18 is now facing a felony assault charge.
Gerard O’Reilly, 33, was shot when he pointed a handgun at officers who were called to his former girlfriend’s home after the man allegedly made threats to shoot people there, deputy prosecutor John Adcock alleged in Snohomish County Superior Court papers.
O’Reilly had made suicidal statements in the days leading up to the shooting. The handgun he allegedly pointed at police turned out to be an air pistol, according to court papers.
O’Reilly was hospitalized after being shot in the arm. Prosecutors filed a third-degree assault charge last week.
O’Reilly was freed Wednesday after posting $25,000 bond.
