Snohomish man pleads not guilty in road rage fatality

SEATTLE — The driver accused of drunken driving road rage in a fatal crash on I-405 at Kirkland pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of vehicular homicide and reckless driving.

King County prosecutors said 56-year-old Patrick Rexroat of Snohomish was chasing another car and had a blood alcohol content of 0.29 percent on July 24 when his car collided with a car not involved in the chase, killing Steve Lacey of Kirkland.

KOMO-TV reported about a dozen of Lacey’s friends and family members were in the Seattle courtroom wearing shirts in his memory.

Lacey was a 43-year-old father of two who worked for Google.

If convicted of vehicular homicide, Rexroat would face about three years in prison. He’s being held in jail with bail set at $1 million.
