EVERETT — A Snohomish man was sentenced Monday to two months in jail for his part in a cockfighting operation.
Francisco Carranza, 48, pleaded guilty last month to animal fighting. He was accused of operating Pilchuck G
ame Farm, which advertised roosters for sale for fighting.
Police raided the farm in 2008 and found about 100 roosters, hens and chickens. Some of the roosters’ spurs had been altered or broken, which was consistent with fighting activities, court papers said.
Carranza faced up to a year in jail. The judge ordered the two-month sentence and agreed to allow Carranza to serve his time on electronic home monitoring.
