The National Weather Service is warning people in Snohomish County to prepare for winter driving conditions tonight.
Traffic this evening on I-5 in Arlington slowed to a crawl as hail coated the freeway.
The service’s Seattle Bureau extended a snow advisory tonight as a strong storm sweeps toward the region, likely bringing significant snow to the eastern slopes of the Cascades as well as a dusting of up to an inch of snow near the water. Hilltops in the county could see up to two inches of accumulated snow.
Tonight, forecasters are calling for a chance of rain and snow showers, with snow developing after midnight as temperatures dip to the lower 30s.
Snow may continue all day Friday and into Saturday with mixed rain near the water.
