More snow is expected to fall later today in parts of Snohomish County.
As much as two inches could accumulate on the higher hills, meteorologists at the National Weather Service in Seattle said.
Snow could mix with rain all the way down to sea level, but little accumulation is likely in the low lands, officials said.
A special weather statement has been issued for Western Washington as more wintry weather moves through the area.
It was snowing heavily at Stevens Pass this morning and state Department of Transportation officials are requiring traction tires. Chains are required on vehicles heavier than 10,000 pounds. Oversize vehicles are prohibited.
Snow and rain are forecast to continue through Thursday.
Rain is forecast through the weekend when temperatures are forecast to rise into the 40s. Temperatures may drop again Sunday night when snow is forecast once more in the lowlands.
