STEVENS PASS — A snow slide Saturday afternoon halted traffic in both directions of U.S. 2 over Stevens Pass.
Traffic was blocked at milepost 56 starting about 2 p.m. and was still at a standstill three hours later. Crews with the Washington State Department of Transportation were at the scene.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the mountains in Snohomish County above 4,500 feet elevation. Rain and snow showers were expected until 11 p.m. Snow accumulations on mountain passes were expected to reach up to 8 inches.
