Soap Lake renames park used for tribal powwow

SOAP LAKE — East Beach Park in Soap Lake has been renamed Smokiam Park to honor the city’s Native American culture.

The City Council voted Wednesday to rename the park in time for the June 6 Soap Lake Powwow.

New signs will be posted at the park and iFIBER One News reports the mayor will present a name change proclamation at the powwow.
