OLYMPIA — There’s $1 million — and 368 other prizes — up for grabs in the state’s final vaccine lottery drawing.
On Tuesday morning, state lottery officials selected the last batch of winning numbers. Calls will go out to lucky Washingtonians starting Wednesday.
If you get the call, it will likely come from a phone number with a 253 or 564 area code. In addition to voicemails, lottery officials might try and reach winners via text message.
Winners have 72 hours to claim their prizes. If they fail to do so, an alternate will be contacted.
In the first four drawings, more than 70 Snohomish County residents claimed prizes, including Xbox consoles, sports tickets and Discovery passes.
Meanwhile, two local teenagers each received a year’s worth of college tuition.
The state’s “Shot of a Lifetime” vaccine lottery was intended to give unvaccinated residents one more reason to get a shot.
So far, about 67% of eligible Snohomish County residents have received at least one dose — one of the highest rates in the state. Statewide, 69.8% of residents 16 years and older have received at least one dose.
On Tuesday, Snohomish Health District health officer Dr. Chris Spitters asked unvaccinated residents to consult their doctor with any concerns they have.
“Some of us are more reassured by the science than others,” he said.”I don’t know if there’s a vaccine out there that has a better benefit-to-risk ratio.”
Getting vaccinated, he added, is the best protection against the virus’ more infectious variants.
In the county’s latest two-week case count, there were 80 new infections per 100,000 residents — up from 70 per 100,000 in last week’s tally.
