WHIDBEY ISLAND — A recent increase in car break-ins in the South Whidbey Area has sheriff’s officials warning drivers to remove valuables from their vehicles.
Since July 1, there have been several theft reports at and near the Deer Lake park-and-ride in Clinton, Island County Sheriff Mark Brown said.
Most of the stolen belongings have been purses, wallets, credit cards and cell phones, he said.
The sheriff said it’s important to remember to always lock your vehicle, take valuables out of the car or place them out of sight, and be alert for suspicious activity.
If someone is a victim, call 911 immediately, Brown said.
