SPOKANE — A Spokane-area doctor has been indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.
Dr. Craig A. Morgenstern faces up to life in prison on the charge, which was returned on Tuesday.
U.S. Attorney Michael C. Ormsby says Morgenstern, 45, also was indicted for traveling with intent to engage in sexual contact with a child; production of child pornography; and attempted production of child pornography.
Morgenstern is an emergency room doctor at the Spokane Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He has been suspended from his job.
He was arrested last month and accused of drugging and raping a 13-year-old boy.
The child pornography case stems from videos found in a computer that detectives recovered from his home.
