SPOKANE — The city of Spokane might require lenders to register foreclosed homes with the city.
Spokane City Councilmember Amber Waldref is working on an ordinance to tell lenders they have the responsibility to maintain and preserve foreclosed properties.
Some foreclosed homes have been stripped of wiring. Squatters have moved in, bringing drug activity, crime and sanitation problems to neighborhoods.
KXLY reports the ordinance is set to go before City Council on Sept. 8.
