Spokane pit bull attack sends 2 to hospital

SPOKANE — Two pit bull dogs bit an 8-year-old girl and neighbors who came to her rescue Thursday afternoon in a Spokane neighborhood.

KXLY reports the girl and a man were treated at a hospital for bite wounds. Jason Connerly was bitten on the hands and legs as he beat the dogs with a shovel to drive them away.

Police and neighbors cornered the dogs until animal control arrived. The Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service is investigating and charges could be filed against the owner.

The owner says neighborhood kids let the dogs out of her back yard without her permission.
