SPOKANE — The Spokane Tribe says it would work with the Air Force to reduce land-use conflicts if the tribe is allowed to build a casino complex in Airway Heights two miles from the base.
The Spokesman-Review reports the plans are in the tribe’s impact statement, which was posted Thursday online.
County officials worry a new casino would limit the future of the base, the county’s largest single employer. The Spokanes’ plan also is opposed by the Kalispel Tribe, which already operates a casino in Airway Heights.
The Spokane Tribe needs approval for its casino from the Interior Department and Gov. Jay Inslee.
