SPOKANE VALLEY — Spokane Valley police say two 16-year-old boys caused a patrol car to crash by placing a log in a road.
A deputy’s car hit the log Aug. 3 and rolled. He suffered a back injury.
Police arrested the teens Tuesday and booked them into juvenile detention for investigation of felony malicious mischief.
The deputy was responding to a report of a fight at a school and investigators suspected the log was an ambush, but now they say it was not focused on law enforcement.
However, the boys admitted to investigators they put the log in the road anticipating a vehicle would run over it.
