EVERETT – A stabbing and shooting spree that spanned from south Everett to Shoreline on Saturday sent four people to a Seattle hospital, two of them in critical condition.
It all started before dawn when a 42-year-old man reportedly broke into a single-family home at 12012 Highway 99 adjacent to Trucks Plus south of Everett, said Rich Niebusch, a spokesman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The intruder got into an argument with a 47-year-old man who lived there and stabbed him with a knife, police officials said.
The victim managed to grab a handgun and shot the intruder at least twice, one bullet grazing the intruder’s head and a second striking his shoulder.
Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call from the victim around 4:50 a.m., Niebusch said. Niebusch said he didn’t know what caused the argument or how the intruder broke into the home.
After being shot, the intruder went to a condominium in the 1700 block of NE 179th Street in Shoreline, where his ex-girlfriend lived. Once there, he stabbed the 41-year-old woman and her new boyfriend, 35, with a knife, police said.
The woman called the King County Sheriff’s Office around 5:18 a.m. A few minutes later, deputies arrived at the scene and used a taser to subdue the intruder, who refused to surrender.
All four injured people were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The intruder and the new boyfriend were in critical condition, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said they later discovered that the man who was stabbed south of Everett was the employer of the ex-girlfriend.
The identities of the four injured people had not been released as of Saturday night.
