SMOKEY POINT — A 19-year-old from Stanwood was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a crash early Sunday morning.
A car with three young men in it went off the road on Highway 531 and hit a telephone pole before 2 a.m., according to a Washington State Patrol memo. The car was totaled and one passenger was taken to Providence Hospital. The driver, 18, and a second passenger, 20, were not injured.
The injured teen reportedly was not wearing a seat belt.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Drugs or alcohol are believed to be involved, according to the state patrol.
