OLYMPIA — The state Public Disclosure Commission voted unanimously Thursday to dismiss two campaign finance complaints against state Rep. Mike Hope.
Hope, a Lake Stevens Republican, is running this fall against Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon, the two-term Democratic incumbent.
The complaints were filed by Olympia attorney William Ferrell of the Evergreen Law Group in April and June. One complaint alleged Hope’s current campaign for executive improperly benefited from an organization he launched in March to come up with 100 ideas for improving state government. The other accused Hope of not properly disclosing travel expenses in 2010 while campaigning for a constitutional amendment reforming state bail laws.
Hope on Thursday called the dismissed charges “an abuse, a waste of taxpayer money.” He said his campaign’s treasurer has filed a complaint about Ferrell with the Washington State Bar Association.
