WALLA WALLA — The state Department of Veteran Affairs will ask the 2012 Legislature for $10 million to help fund a nursing home for veterans in Walla Walla.
Most of the rest of the $35 million cost would come from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, if state funding is approved.
The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce reported the long-term care home would be built at the Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial VA Medical Center. The home would be run by the state.
The state already operates veterans homes at Retsil, Orting and Spokane.
