OLYMPIA — The Senate has passed a measure that would allow a person to have a military veteran status designation on their driver’s license or ID card.
Senate Bill 5775 passed Monday on a bipartisan 47-1 vote and now heads to the House for consideration. Under the measure, veterans must show provide their Department of Defense discharge document or separation papers, which must show that the applicant’s service was honorable. A fee of up to $2 may be charged.
The measure passed the Senate last year, but didn’t gain traction in the House.
