OLYMPIA — The Senate has passed a resolution honoring the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who died last weekend.
The chamber passed Senate Resolution 8725 on Tuesday. The measure honors Scalia “for his dedication to service, his intellectual rigor, his example of friendship and civility across the ideological divide, and his passion for individual liberty, rule of law, and the text of the Constitution of the United States.”
Scalia was found dead in his room at a remote Texas ranch Saturday. He was 79. Scalia’s death was a shock to those at the Cibolo Creek Ranch where he died, as well as to the rest of the nation. Scalia, who joined the high court in 1986, was part of a 5-4 conservative majority at the time of his death.
