Stevens County fire forces 30 homes to evacuate

GIFFORD — Stevens County officials have asked residents of 30 homes to evacuate in the path of small wildfire that started in the area Thursday afternoon.

Stevens County Emergency Management Coordinator Rick Anderson told The Spokesman-Review that several homes are threatened by the 30-acre fire. But because there’s only one way out of the neighborhood along Addy-Gifford road east of the town of Gifford, officials are being cautious and asking more people to evacuate.
