DARRINGTON — A man left stranded on a sand bar in the North Fork of the Stillaguamish River was rescued Wednesday afternoon after becoming separated from a group of rafters.
Darrington Fire Chief Dennis Fenstermaker said the Stillaguamish Swift Water Rescue Team and Darrington Fire District 24 responded about 3:30 p.m. to the scene, about a half-mile west of Swede Haven Road.
“He was in a place where the river was shallow enough that rescue teams could walk across and put him in a small stretcher,” Fenstermaker said.
Medics took the man to Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington. He was uninjured but dehydrated, Fenstermaker said.
