FORT SMITH, Ark. — Police have arrested a pizza parlor manager on charges alleging he sold marijuana out of his drive-through window in Fort Smith, Ark.
Authorities said Monday that state and local investigators acting on a tip went to the Pizza Hut restaurant and found six ounces of marijuana and a set of digital scales in the manager’s office.
Police said they arrested 28-year-old manager Aaron Massey on Friday on a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Massey has been released on $3,500 bail.
Diet demonstrator stole cupcakes, store says
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A woman involved in a Weight Watchers demo at a supermarket was arrested after shoplifting cupcakes and other items, according to a police report.
A loss prevention official told police that Kelly L. Barber, 47, was in the Publix store last week “conducting a demo for Weight Watchers.”
The loss-prevention official said she saw Barber “conceal store items” in a blue bin and leave the store without paying for the goods, which included Weight Watchers cupcakes, a book and teeth-whitening strips.
“When questioned, Kelly explained she just wanted to whiten her teeth and stated it was stupid she stole the items as she had never done this before,” the report states. “Kelly did not have an explanation for all the other items.”
Barber, of Fort Pierce, Fla., faces a retail theft charge.
Church service includes beer, mechanical bull
SIDNEY, Ohio — Another round and amen! Beer was on tap and a mechanical bull inspired the sermon as a new church held its inaugural service in a western Ohio bar.
The Country Rock Church drew about 100 people to Sunday night’s meeting at the Pub Lounge in Sidney, 35 miles north of Dayton.
The barroom church is an offshoot of Sidney United First Methodist Church, whose head pastor says he’s been looking for creative ways to reach people in unconventional places.
The church’s Web site for its new branch advertises “Top regional bands, pizza, wings, rowdy fun &a short message.”
The Rev. Chris Heckaman says people really seemed to enjoy themselves so he expects the Country Rock Church will meet weekly.
Heckaman’s sermon compared staying on the bar’s mechanical bull to learning how to get along in life.
