High winds are expected tonight in the lowlands of Snohomish County while up to two feet of snow could fall in the mountains.
The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a wind advisory for the western half of the county and a winter storm warning for the Cascade Range and the foothills.
Winds are forecast to pick up around 6 p.m. with gusts reaching as high as 50 mph, enough to topple trees and bring down power lines, the weather service said.
In the mountains, heavy snow fall is predicted through Wednesday. Winds there are expected to create near white-out conditions. Travel over the passes is expected to be hazardous.
Another, possibly strong storm could bring even more rain and high winds Thursday and dump more snow in the mountains.
Avalanche danger in the backcountry remains extremely high.
