EVERETT — The northbound Highway 529 bridge between Everett and Marysville got stuck open for about 90 minutes Wednesday afternoon, causing delays for commuters.
Both directions of the bridge were opened for boat traffic around 1:30 p.m.
The southbound bridge slipped back into place a few minutes later, but the northbound bridge remained up. Crews were able to get the northbound bridge to close around 3 p.m.
“We are investigating it,” state Department of Transportation spokesman Bart Treece said. “Obviously, we don’t want this to happen again.”
Transportation crews rerouted traffic. Drivers closest to the bridge had the longest wait to turn around, Treece said.
